Lady Merope

My 500th deviation! I was planning on drawing something awesome and epic, but realised that I was still exhausted after my last picture, so instead you all get show-and-tell!

I promised I would unveil someone new from my moon-line didn't I? Well, I though this was a perfect this, and since Queen Selenity's mother won in the poll (by a horse's head), here she is: Lady Merope!

Merope's father is a nobel from the Solar Kingdom, and he raised his daughter in the belief that her solar bloodline was way superior to her lunar (Merope was one of Helios' daughters in mythology), and since her mother was a somewhat weak and insecure woman, she never spoke up against it. Thus Merope hung unto her father's every word, becoming a spoiled young woman who looked down upon part of her legacy, believing that her rightful place is in the royal court of the Solar Kingdom (and preferably it's queen :P).

Merope wears a circlet with a crescent on her forehead, because although she does carry the moon-insignia, it has almost completely faded.

Later, when Merope's father dies and her mother starts blooming (away from his shadow), she slowly starts warming up to her mother and the lunar part of her family, and as her daughter is born her insignia is almost completely visible again. Still, Merope remains a haughty and somewhat cruel woman through her whole life, and her daughter more often than not seeks the company of her grandmother over that of her mother.

On a side-note, Merope is also Sailor Solstice Moon, but she's never needed for battle. I've actually had her design more or less finalized for over half a year now (from before Christmas), although her dress has undergone a lot of changes! :XD: Of course, can't have too many dresses, right?

Love her design! Her haughtiness and less-than-kind attitude is is a neat change from the usual Moon Queens, and it makes her a lot more interesting to me. You can also really see her personality in the picture too! Love the veil over the hair, it kinda reminds me of medieval noble-ladies (I swear they wore something like that?), the gold beads, and how you can tell even from the side that the pattern on her waist resembles the sun's rays.

And agreed, never enough dresses ^^
